Windows 11 KB5046740 update released with 14 changes and fixes
Microsoft has released the November 2024 preview cumulative update for Windows 11 24H2, with 14 improvements and fixes for multiple issues, including some affecting File Explorer, the Clipboard history, and secondary displays.
The KB5046740 update is part of Microsoft's optional non-security preview updates schedule, pushed out on the fourth week of every month to help Windows admins test bug fixes, new features, and improvements that will roll out to all customers with next month's Patch Tuesday release.
However, unlike Patch Tuesday cumulative updates, these monthly preview updates do not include security updates.
Today's preview update adds a new way to share content to your Android device from File Explorer and desktop context menus after installing the Phone Link app on your device. It also improves Windows text-to-speech and speech-to-text for those using the Narrator, voice access, live captions, live translations, and voice typing features.
KB5046740 also fixes lag and screen tearing issues on some secondary displays when a window is in full screen, the clipboard history might show no content, and app windows moving to the corner of a display after the device goes to sleep on systems with multiple monitors.
You can install the update by going into Settings, clicking on Windows Update, and clicking on 'Check for Updates.' Since this is an optional update, you will be asked if you wish to install it by clicking the 'Download and install' link.
You can also manually download and install the KB5046740 update from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

"Because of minimal operations during the Western holidays and the upcoming new year, there won't be a non-security preview release for the month of December 2024," Microsoft said today.
"There will be a monthly security release for December 2024. Normal monthly servicing for both security and non-security preview releases will resume in January 2025."
Microsoft has reported a single known issue with the Windows 11 24H2 update. This issue affects gamers using Windows Arm devices, preventing them from downloading and playing Roblox via the Microsoft Store.
On Wednesday, the company also confirmed a Windows 24H2 issue causing game audio to unexpectedly rise to full volume when using some USB DAC sound systems.
Windows 11, version 24H2 (the Windows 11 2024 Update) began rolling out in October as a whole OS swap to eligible devices running Windows 11 22H2 and 23H2.
