OpenAI has confirmed that its powerful AI agent "Deep Research" will begin rolling out to free users "very soon."

At the moment, Deep Research is available only for Plus and Enterprise customers, but it's now being prepared for everyone, including those who do not pay for ChatGPT.

As pointed out by Tibor Blaho on X,  while discussing the Deep Research feature, Isa Fulford, Member of Technical Staff at OpenAI, confirmed that the company is testing Deep Research for free customers and will share more details soon.

"If you haven't tried deep research, it's available now for Pro, Pro, Teams, Enterprise and EDU users, and we'll launch you to free very soon," Isa Fulford noted in the webcast.

However, we don't know when it will begin rolling out to the free users.

What is Deep Research?

For those unaware, Deep Research is an AI agent that works for you independently.

You need to prompt it, and it will take care of everything. This includes finding information, understanding, analyzing, and cross-verifying the report against the millions of websites on the internet.

Once you have access to Deep Research, you need to open chatgpt.com, start a new conversation, and you'll find the new Deep Research toggle in the message composer.

To start a "deep research," you just need to enter your query like "Create a report on obesity and its causes or effects," and the Deep Research tool will query all possible keywords to deliver the result.

At the moment, Deep Research is limited to 10 queries per month for Plus subscribers. This means you have 10 separate Deep Research tasks, and it does not count any follow-up messages or modifications as a new task.

It's unclear if OpenAI will offer fewer than 10 tasks for ChatGPT free subscribers every month.
