London Drugs pharmacy chain closes stores after cyberattack
Canadian pharmacy chain London Drugs has closed all its retail stores to contain what it described as a "cybersecurity incident."
The company has also hired external experts to investigate the cyberattack that impacted its systems over the weekend.
"On April 28, 2024, London Drugs discovered that it was the victim of a cybersecurity incident. Out of an abundance of caution, London Drugs is closing all stores across Western Canada until further notice," London Drugs said in a statement.
"Upon discovering the incident, London Drugs immediately undertook countermeasures to protect its network and data, including retaining leading third-party cybersecurity experts to assist with containment, remediation and to conduct a forensic investigation."
London Drugs said it had found no evidence pointing to customer or employee data being impacted in the incident.
The chain advised customers to call their local pharmacy to make arrangements if they have "urgent pharmacy needs."
London Drugs has yet to notify relevant authorities regarding this cyberattack, given there's no indication that customer or employee personal or health information has been compromised.
"Should our investigation indicate any personal information has been compromised, we would notify those impacted and applicable privacy commissioners in accordance with applicable privacy laws," the chain added.

A London Drugs spokesperson didn't reply to a request for more details regarding the incident when BleepingComputer reached out earlier today.
